About the Artist
Belle Koblentz explores color and design with digital art, paintings and
graphics. She investigates spatial relationships and interactions between
and among foreground, midground and background space. In the portfolio
Koblentz captures the varied forms of her environment in photographs, then
translates the images using graphics software.
A collection of these drawings titled Digital-Photo Drawings, has been published using the new
HP MagCloud service. Her paintings reflect the influence of abstract, color-field painting with geometric and modular design. She has designed websites and business cards for several small businesses that emphasize visual presentation.
Koblentz has a diverse career. In addition to exhibiting paintings in galleries and exhibitions; she was a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall. She holds a certificate in non-profit management and served on the executive board of the non-profit Rockette Alumnae Association for 20 years, including as President for five years; at the present time she is adviser to the board. Under Belle Koblentz Designs, she created graphics for the RAA organization membership database and directories, corporate documents, was editor and designer of The Rockette Alumnae Newsletter and started the Rockette Alumnae Group Page on Facebook. She developed event and marketing plans for the Rockette Alumnae Foundation charity galas, luncheons and theater parties, providing pre-press electronic graphics for invitations, stationery, program journals and posters.
She also has been a cartographer and technical illustrator for the University of Texas at Dallas Geophysics Department and Princeton University Department of Geosciences, Institute for Advanced Studies, Physics and Geophysics Departments. While at these universities, she created geographical information presentations and publication quality graphics in slides, diagrams, topographic and contour maps, 2-D illustrations and renderings for professors, postdocs and graduate students.
She developed a marketing plan and prepared promotional materials for The Monmouth Chess School and Club including the design of the website. She has designed ad journals and programs for other educational events as well. Recently, Belle has joined a writing group in Monmouth County, Writers Bloc, and the entries in her blog reflect a sampling of current work.
Belle Koblentz earned a BA in Visual Arts, graduating summa cum laude, and an MA in Humanities, majoring in Aesthetic Studies, from the University of Texas at Dallas. She recently revised the graphical information in her thesis, A Compositional Analysis of the Works of Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525-1569), using the tools and technology available today.
